Why grow food locally? It is the least expensive, most environmentally friendly way to obtain high-quality pesticide produce without taxing the delicate balance of life. Research has shown over the last 20 or more years that pesticide-free produce for the last 60 or more years has taxed our environment to almost a point of permanent damage. However, by eating nutritious, pedsicide free, locally fresh who foods eaten daily are much more nutritious for humans and our ecosystems than foods grown with pesticides. The same may be applied for fruits shipped in from outside of the United States. Moreover, growing locally will ensure that each family has access to a bountiful supply of fresh food grown with healthy bio-active soil supplied and heirloom seeds from local seed banks.
