With our mission and goals in mind, we support nonprofits, community groups and schools with our nutritious, seasonal, nutrient-dense foods. All of our ingredients are sourced locally from our core partners. At our current capacity, we support events ranging 20-300 for buffet style, and up to 1,500 for large-scale bulk orders. Prices for services vary. Our quotes include a per person cost, logistics, and take into deep consideration the objectives of the group needing our services.
We prepare meals for all diet types: vegan, vegetarians and omnivores (those who eat a little bit of everything to include meat). Our ingredients are locally sourced from our partners, are free of harmful chemicals, and take into account the true costs of producing healthy food.
We recently provided these nutrient-dense seasonal dishes:
Drinks are also typically served with catered events:
We use all compostable utensils and tableware, thanks distributions companies such as World Centric: http://www.worldcentric.org/
As a not-for-profit organization, our goal is to not let out any for-profit exceed our non-profit activities. Therefore, we typically only take on 2-4 events per month, depending on their scale.
Proceeds from all catered events, go directly supporting our operational costs and educational services.

Oakland is a hot-bed of community Food Justice activities such as gardening and cooking classes. OFC aims to steadily grow its capacity to support food self-sufficiency by empowering schools, community groups and low-income households to grow fresh produce where they live. Groups and individuals interested in growing their own food may contact OFC to inquire about available gardening consultation. During this time, Oakland Food Connection staff will help you assess what elements will be most functional for your space and needs.
For a flat-rate fee of $100, OFC staff may provide the following garden building for schools and community groups:
Note: Due to our size and capacity, OFC only provides consulting pre-paid garden consultations. Because of the overwhelming surge of garden building in Oakland, we no longer provide free garden consultations.

Interest in nutrition education is soaring throughout Oakland. OFC aims to increase interest in learning about healthy eating and disease prevention. We value our role as mentors, community helpers and movement builders who seek to support and nurture change at the community level. We aim to connect our community to experiences in which participants learn about how to turn whole foods (herbs, vegetables, spices, and flowers that have not been exposed to any pesticides or other harmful treatments) into consumable, value-added products so that they may be an integral part of their local food system.
On-site workshop capacity: 12-15 persons
Off-site workshop capacity: 12-30
Types of workshops:
Note: On-site workshops are ONLY offered only at OFC’s headquarters. Off-site workshops are offered at a coordinated location agreed between OFC and entity requesting service.
