Greetings from Oakland Food Connection,
I am looking for 10 volunteers to join our food justice efforts this Saturday. We have three volunteer opportunities happening in one day!
We're gardening two backyards this Saturday, from 10am - 2pm. Volunteers will assist the garden owners with loading new compost into garden beds, planting seeds and vegetable starts. We need your assistance for 1-4 hours.
Johanne, owner of Hidden Star Orchards, is looking for someone to keep an eye on his fruit stand at the Oakland Community Farmers Market. You'll be in charge of selling an array of dried and fresh fruits and bottled juices to the general public. Johanne will also need some assistance with the setup and breakdown of his booth. He starts at 9am and ends at 3pm. I realize that is a huge chunk of time to volunteer in one day, so if someone wants to volunteer for a 2-3 hour shift that is fine, too. You'll be rewarded with delicious fruits for your efforts.
So, check in with your schedules and let me know what's possible. I need 10 volunteers to respond to this message ASAP. If you're available to get your hands in the dirt or sell some delicious fruits, email me directly at jharvey@foodcommunityculture.org ,and I will send you all the info you need to mobilize into action Saturday.
I appreciate your support in helping us bring healthier sources of food into east Oakland!
